Your job in a nutshell

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is a working supervisor and performs clinical laboratory tests in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phase of testing. Furthermore, you are responsible for conducting and overseeing quality assurance, quality control and collecting, analyzing and interpreting lab results. As CLS you are a working team member that will aid in the validation and verification of existing and to-be-developed tests. Furthermore, you see improvements to process, you are a knowledge resource for other team members and a Safety Officer for the laboratory. As described in 42 CFR 493.1463 (high complexity) you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and oversight of the laboratory operation, personnel performing testing and reporting test results and provide general orientation to all personnel. You will report to the Director Laboratory Operations USA.

Together we ensure the validation and implementation of clinically relevant scientific discoveries into reliable medical diagnostic assays for diagnosis, prognosis and drug effectiveness prediction that will ultimately contribute to improved patient care. 

 

You have

  • a Bachelor’s Degree from an approved college or university and you are a graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent. If you, prior to 2/28/92, have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on an HHS examination, you also meet the qualification. You meet CLIA requirements for General Supervisor (required).

  • 4 years’ experience as medical technologist (required).

  • supervisory experience (pre).

  • experience with Molecular Flow Cytometry and General Laboratory Safety (OSHA regulations) (pre).

  • lean and six sigma or PMP experience (pre).

  • a registration or are eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or equivalent) (required).

  • a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Generalist license (required).

  • an excellent command in written and spoken English (pre).

  • a hands-on mentality and result oriented attitude.

  • an entrepreneurial mind-set and are able to work in an environment with high quality standards.

  • the ability to motivate the team and manage both internal and external collaborations.
